She currently serves as the Small Groups Pastor in her local church and teaches public speaking courses at a Christian university in her area. Carly is a self-professed nerd who is happy as clam when she is reading Bible commentaries and sipping an oat milk latte. Carly’s love of learning compelled her to earn her MBA, and she graduated with her M.Div. in 2022. Carly is married to her college sweetheart, Mike, who is a visual arts professor and a basketball fanatic. Mike and Carly have two bold, vivacious daughters who love Jesus, Disney princesses, and living room dance parties.

Finding value in performance and productivity is a consistent theme in our culture. Working until burnout is a badge of honor in our society. Yet the truth is: perfectionism robs us of our peace and purpose.

Carly is a perfection-ditcher. Carly struggled with perfectionism and people pleasing for years, not realizing the toll it was taking on her. In the midst of a season marked by stress, Carly realized that perfectionism was one of the main underlying causes of her anxiety. Amazing Christian counselors, her loving family, and God’s peace have brought Carly an immense amount of healing.

Because of her personal experience, Carly is passionate about helping others “ditch perfection.” She fully believes that perfectionism and people pleasing inhibit us from fully living into God’s purposes. When we are worried about disappointing people, or obsessing over getting things “exactly right,” we are living in a box instead of participating in the wide open spaces of God’s mission. Carly is devoted to sharing from Scripture in a way that reminds us that we are invited to be a part of a story that is bigger than us! As God continually transforms us, we get to be a part of God’s transformative work in the world!
